Ian Smith has specialized experience in geomorphic sciences including erosion control, bank stabilization, and natural channel design plus the design of constructed wetlands for residential, municipal, landfill, agricultural and industrial wastewater treatment.
Ian D. Smith, B.Math., M.Sc., O.L.I.P., O.L.S, EP – Fluvial Geomorphologist, Environmental Professional and Land Information Specialist:
Ian Smith has specialized experience in geomorphic sciences including erosion control, bank stabilization, and natural channel design plus the design of constructed wetlands for residential, municipal, landfill, agricultural and industrial wastewater treatment. Other services include environmental monitoring, analysis and systems modeling (surface water, groundwater). Ian has extensive practical experience developing GIS and geomatics systems for a wide variety of applications including infrastructure management, ecosystem and environmental analysis. Ian led the UEM Team that designed the award-winning Chedoke Creek Bank Stabilization/Restoration for the City of Hamilton (2008 OPWA Project of the year; 2010 SWANA Bronze Medal Project). Ian is a professor of Hydrology/Hydraulics, Fluvial Geomorphology and GIS/Geomatics at Niagara College and Brock University. Ian has designed numerous constructed wetland and stream restoration projects in Southern Ontario and abroad.

Johnathan
Smith

Jonathan has a multidisciplinary educational and professional background spanning finance, accounting, oil and gas and now the environmental sector. He completed his Master of Resource of Environmental Management at Dalhousie University, where he specialized in community based social marketing.
Sourcing and Sales Manager – Blue Source Canada ULC
Jonathan has a multidisciplinary educational and professional background spanning finance, accounting, oil and gas and now the environmental sector. He completed his Master of Resource of Environmental Management at Dalhousie University, where he specialized in community based social marketing as it relates to energy efficiency as well as biomass to energy processes including combined heat and power and district heating. Additionally, he has a BBA from Bishop’s University with a concentration in finance and economics and a Bachelor of Applied Technology Petroleum Engineering degree from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
He has worked in an accounting and finance capacity for a variety of Canadian based oil and gas organizations and has over two years of oil field service experience with a majority of that time focused on heavy oil and SAGD operations. He has worked on a variety of energy efficiency projects ranging from low-income residential programs to larger scale commercial programs. Jonathan has also worked for a not-for-profit energy efficiency organization that focused on a combined waste reduction and educational program.
In his current role as Sourcing and Sales Manager, Jonathan is involved with project sourcing and offset sales for the Canadian carbon market. Working with clients, market participants and government organizations, Jonathan seeks to maximize emission reductions through the most efficient and cost effective manner possible. Combining the business case for emission reduction projects is critical in reducing Canada’s emission profile and Jonathan feels this is an important sector where the business and environmental communities can collaborate towards a common goal.

Chris’s education consists of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with a major in Finance and minors in Economics and Communications, from Eastern Washington University. Chris is also a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds an Environmental Professional designation.
Chris Mosher has worked for the Forest Practices Board since 1996
Chris’s education consists of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with a major in Finance and minors in Economics and Communications, from Eastern Washington University. Chris is also a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds an Environmental Professional designation, with a focus on sustainable forest management. Chris specializes in auditing. Before joining the Board, Chris articled with Deloitte and Touche Chartered Accountants, then worked with the Auditor General’s office, as well as the Office of the Comptroller General.
While at the Board, Chris has worked on numerous significant projects. As Director, Audits, Chris assumes overall responsibility for all compliance audits, including the final reports. Chris also has taken on the role of Chief Financial Officer for the operations of the Forest Practices Board.
Chris is a fifth-generation coastal logger and worked in various camps along the coast of BC during summers while attending university.
